That being said, Sunday is typically the least-crowded day to visit Universal Orlando, theoretically because most visitors to Orlando start their vacations on the weekend and go to Disney first. Recently, Monday and Thursday have been the busiest days, especially at Islands of Adventure.
April to May
April and May are some of the best months to visit Universal Studios. This is the ‘shoulder season’ when you’ll get the best of peak season and low season perks. You can expect warm comfortable weather and less crowds at the park as long as you avoid any seasonal breaks and school holidays.
Universal’s newest Harry Potter ride, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike, opens Thursday in Orlando, Florida. Within an hour of debuting, the ride has a 10-hour wait. The $300 million investment from Universal takes parkgoers on a mile-long journey through the infamous Forbidden Forest on Hagrid’s iconic motorbike.

But Disney World is so crowded. Universal has spikes in crowds, too, but a big piece of attendance there is locals. If you head to Universal on a week day, odds are it’s going to be much less busy than Disney World.
The best time to visit Orlando is from March to May. That’s the time of year you’ll find the most pleasant weather (high 50s to high 80s most days) and agreeable prices on travel and lodging (excluding holiday weekends and school recesses).
Though May is generally less crowded than other times of the year at Universal Orlando, the weekends will bring in larger crowds as locals visit the parks, particularly during Memorial Day weekend. It’s definitely possible to still complete the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in one day if you don’t have access to Early Admission; so if that’s not in the cards for you, just plan to be at the Parks about 45 minutes early to get you through security and get you to the turnstiles.
Visiting The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter is worth it, especially if you are a fan of the books and films. However, even if you are not a fan, you can still enjoy the rides, shopping and dining experiences as long as you find worth in the remaining areas of the Universal Studios Orlando parks.
Nearly three hours after the rest of Universal’s Islands of Adventure opened this morning, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade finally opened. The reason for this morning’s closure has not been officially confirmed, but some Team Members said they were being sent home early due to a power outage.

As there are more child-friendly lands and rides catered to a younger audience, Islands of Adventure it is better suited to children and families. Whereas Universal Studios Florida is better suited to older children, teens and adults as the rides are bigger and scarier with more mature themes.

Even with all of this, 2021 will likely bring a better Disney vacation experience overall than 2020. The more time that passes, the more things will be phased back in. Re: Which universal park first? It really doesn’t matter unless there is a specific ride you want to attempt at park open day 2. That might sway where you start. There are single rider lines for most attractions that can reduce wait times.
Should I go to Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade first? Hogsmeade should definitely be your first destination. Not only does it have more rides, but it also has the most popular rides. In order to beat the rush, you should get there as soon as possible and check it off your list!
