If you are only flying a couple of times per year, the benefits are unlikely to outweigh the cost of membership. However, if you are a regular flyer and travel a lot for business, an Admirals Club membership could very well be worth it.
The American Express Platinum card’s Admirals Club membership is no longer available. American Express dropped free access to Admirals Club airport lounges in 2014. The American Express Platinum card currently offers complimentary access to several other airport lounges through its Global Lounge Collection.
Most international first or business-class tickets will provide free access to the airline’s corresponding lounge, and even international premium-cabin tickets on partner airlines in the same alliance can get you into an American, Delta or United lounge in many cases.

American Airlines Admirals Club
For any regular American Airlines travelers, you can use your AAdvantage miles to purchase membership in the Admirals Club. This offers access to 37 club locations plus numerous partner lounges across the globe.
The downside is that most lounges aren’t open overnight. There are exceptions though, such as the Plaza Premium Lounge in Hong Kong. However, many lounges allow you to buy a day pass, which can get you access to food, showers and a place to rest if you didn’t get much sleep the night before.
Does Priority Pass work for Admirals Club? Sadly, no. Admirals Club is reserved for select American Airlines elites, qualifying Oneworld elites, qualifying military personnel, holders of the Citi®/AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ Mastercard®, and a few other groups. Priority Pass isn’t included.
Ultimately, your decision depends on your traveling style and the airports you frequent. If you always travel through Dallas, for example, it’s a no brainer! The Admirals Club is more likely to be helpful if your flight is canceled, since there are more locations, but the Centurion Lounge is much nicer.
