St John’s beaches are probably considered better, because of the incredibly gorgeous views and great snorkeling, but St Croix has more accommodations on beaches than St John. Both have lots of good restaurants.

Right in front of the Coakley Bay condos is a little (almost hidden) road to the beach. You could park there, or even up on the side of the road and walk down to the beach by the little dirt road and take your kayak out from there. It’s directly across from Buck Island.
Ferry to St Croix
Thomas to St. Croix and back are perfect for day trippers and longer stay visitors alike. The ferry operates on Wednesday,Friday and Sundays. The crossing takes just 90 minutes to get to Christiansted on the northern side of St.
There is no ferry to Buck Island. There are different size charters that may fit your needs- some will take a small group and others larger groups. A full day charter to Buck Island will run about $90 per person.
