Beyond your wildest screams! Halloween Horror Nights 2016 was the 11th consecutive Halloween Horror Nights event to be held at Universal Studios Hollywood and the 17th Hollywood event over all. It lasted from the 16th September to the 5th November 2016.
Halloween Horror Nights will run on select nights at Universal Studios Hollywood starting September 9. The 30th annual HHN at Universal Studios Orlando will kick off on September 3. Both events run through October 31.
Unfortunately, Halloween Horror Nights has been cancelled this year due to #COVID19 pandemic.
Halloween Horror Nights returned in 2021 in a big way for its 30th anniversary! This event is not intended for children and is a separately ticketed event. In fact, you’ll probably need our Halloween Horror Nights guide just to make it through the night.

Halloween Horror Nights requires a separate ticket from regular theme park admission. Make sure to purchase in advance (bonus: you can save money too). You don’t want to have to wait in any more lines than you have to! We always get asked if the Express Passes are worth it.

A standard Halloween Horror Nights ticket will only grant you access to the event. You cannot visit Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, or Universal Studios Florida (during daytime hours) with the ticket. There are tickets available that will grant you access to these parks, however.
They’re Not Allowed To Touch You
HHN scare actors are allowed to chase you. They can jump out from places and say BOO. They can threaten to cut you into little itty bitty pieces with their chainless chain saws. But they are not allowed to touch you.
All Visitors Must Pass Through Metal Detection Before Experiencing the Theme Park. All bags, backpacks and purses are subject to x-ray and/or additional inspection by Universal security without advance notice and should not be left unattended. Do not physically or verbally threaten or harass any person.

Halloween Horror Nights is unavoidably loud and dark, even if you don’t go in the haunted houses. Even if you try to avoid the scare zones, you’ll probably run into a chainsaw-wielding maniac at some point.

Frankenstein’s Bride brings fear to fans with a drop of fright that’ll last the night. The scariest maze is The Curse of Pandora’s Box. From the beginning it is already too late to turn back, the box is open. All mazes at HHN are dark but there are portions of this maze that are pitch black.
Visitors heading to Halloween Horror Night at Universal Studios Hollywood and Fright Fest at Magic Mountain on or after Oct. 7 will need proof of vaccination or a negative test. A Universal Studios Hollywood spokesperson said the park would comply with the health order, but it presents several challenges.

Halloween Horror Nights closes at 1:00 a.m. during the first few weeks of the event and 2:00 a.m. during the remainder of the event. Most shows perform their last performance around 90 minutes before park closing and scare zones start to clear out their actors 30 minutes prior to close.
