In addition to this being the first year Disney World’s version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been open on May 4, Disneyland Resort has now announced it will reopen on April 30, 2021 thanks to the State of California’s “Blueprint Refresh.”
A park reservation is required. Upon reopening, we’ll continue leveraging a virtual queue system for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. The attraction’s virtual queue is only accessible via the Disneyland app, and you may only experience the attraction by joining the virtual queue.
In 2019, a Star Wars-inspired land called Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland Resort. Replacing an area known as Big Thunder Ranch, it was a highly anticipated new attraction.
Walt Disney World announced an opening date for their hotly anticipated immersive Star Wars resort, Galaxy Starcruiser. The interactive hotel, meant to bring guests into the galaxy far, far away for days at a time, will open to the public on March 1.
As of now, Guests no longer need to join a virtual queue to access Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Instead, Guests may either wait in a traditional standby queue or purchase individual Lightning Lane entry to experience the attraction.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is still a passive ride, but it’s something engrossing, immersive, and non-viscerally thrilling. From the Cast Members perfectly executing their flaws to the plotting and encounters, the tension, pacing, and suspense are also exceptional.
Film actors Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, and Kipsang Rotich reprised their roles in the attraction as Rey, Poe Dameron, Finn, Kylo Ren, General Hux, and the voice of Nien Nunb, respectively.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is included during Extra Magic Hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Guests of Disney Resort hotels and other select hotels—but the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction is not included at this time.

Savi’s Workshop inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has increased its price. The cost of the handbuilt lightsabers has been $199 since the experience opened, and the new price is $219.99 for experiences booked today going forward.

The attraction’s virtual queue is only accessible via the Disneyland mobile app. Make sure you have a valid park ticket and theme park reservation for Disneyland Park to access the virtual queue system on the morning of the day of your park reservation. You will get this before entering the park.
Guests are allowed to bring outside food and nonalcoholic beverages into the parks for self-consumption, provided they are not in glass containers, do not require heating, reheating, processing or refrigeration and do not have pungent odors. Inform a Security Cast Member of any food items when you enter the park.
But, even though there is a LOT going on with this attraction (and we have had issues with motion sickness on all of the attractions that we find Rise of the Resistance to feel the most similar too), we didn’t find that we had much trouble riding it.
