Iguaçu Falls, Iguaçu also spelled Iguassú, Spanish Cataratas del Iguazú, Portuguese Cataratas do Iguaçu or Saltos do Iguaçu, series of cataracts on the Iguaçu River, 14 miles (23 km) above its confluence with the Alto (Upper) Paraná River, at the Argentina-Brazil border.

The Iguazu Falls are the largest waterfall system in the world. Stretching almost 3km along the border of Argentina and Brazil, the falls are made up of roughly 275 different vertical drops, with heights varying from 60 meters – 82 meters. This makes the Iguazu Falls taller than Niagara Falls and twice as wide.
The two countries share the 62,000-square kilometer Iguazu River basin, with 95% of the basin area in Brazil and the rest in Argentina. However, about 80% of the falls are in Argentina, with Brazil owning only 20%.

Once in Iguassu Falls, you can visit the Paraguay. The access to Paraguay, which north of the local Brazilian Foz Iguacu city, is usually through a short car trip. The Jesuit ruins in Paraguay are a Unesco World Heritage and are very similar to the Argentinean Jesuit ruins.
Two US tourists have died in an accident at Iguazu Falls on the border between Brazil and Argentina. They were in an inflatable boat which capsized after apparently hitting rocks near the base of the waterfall, Argentine officials said. At least five others were rescued from the water but suffered injuries.
